5 Ways Your Spirituality Can Reduce Stress By Lleda McCurty

Expert Author Lleda McCurty I was a young child when I first made the connection between stress and heart disease, ironically, from watching television. My grandfather used to watch a show called Sanford and Son (some of you may still remember it). To this day I have a vivid image of the hilarious, silver haired, Redd Foxx grabbing at his heart saying, "Here comes the big one, Elizabeth." Yes, when faced with a stressful situation, his character would jokingly start to fake a heart attack. For lots of tips and information: www.weightlosstips4today.blogspot.com Recently, this childhood memory was resurrected while perusing the World Heart Federation's website which identifies stress as a trigger for cardiovascular disease. It states, "One study found a linear progression between self-reported psychological stress and damage to the carotid artery. The extensive Whitehall Study in the UK among government employees found that those with the least control over their work had the highest rates of heart disease." In addition, stress itself can alter the way the body behaves and this can bring about changes to the blood and nervous system, which can have negative effects on your heart health. Wow, Fred Sanford was right, stress really can trigger a heart attack. Most of us know that exercise and a balanced diet are the key components to good cardiovascular health, but diet and exercise alone are not enough to combat the effects of chronic stress. One of the less obvious things we can do is use our spirituality to help reduce stress. The word spirituality refers to an attitude or an approach to life. It's not necessarily connected to a specific belief system or even religious worship, but it can be if we so choose. Spirituality is different for everyone. For some, spirituality takes the form of religious observance, prayer, meditation, or a belief in a higher power. For others, it can be found in nature, music, or art. For lots of tips and information: www.weightlosstips4today.blogspot.com How can our spirituality help us to manage stress? When we are spiritual, we recognize our lives have purpose. Discovering our true purpose in life allows us to put everyday problems into perspective. They do not distract us from our larger vision because we realize they are bumps along the road of our journey. As we dare to delve deeper and step into our life's purpose, we will feel exhilarated, excited, happy and alive. The opposite of stressed out. We focus on what is truly important. The push, pull, tug and tow of life is never ending and can cause great anxiety. To avoid becoming overwhelmed, we must clearly define priorities. Our spirituality helps us to decide what takes precedence in our lives and we focus less on unimportant things. By not ''sweating the small stuff" we are able to let go of unnecessary stressors. We gain power through prayer. Prayer can help us feel more connected with a Higher Power, leaving us with a calmer, safer and more grounded feeling that can act as a buffer against stress. The sharing of spiritual expression can help build friendships because spiritual people are usually connected to other spiritual people. Studies show that stress management is one of the great benefits of friendship. In fact, sociologist Jan Yager says, "Researchers have found that having even one close friend that you confide in can extend your life by as much as 10 years." Our attitudes shift. Inner peace is directly affected by your attitude, or the way you view things. Your spirituality helps you to realize some of your stressors are out of your control and cannot be changed. However, you can control the way you think, feel and respond to them. Spirituality also helps us to cultivate attitudes that support serenity and focus on positivity. We then realize the thing that is keeping us up at night is not the only possibility. Thus, we become more optimistic rather than pessimistic. How can you become more spiritual? A good place to start is by getting back to nature. According to Dr. Dewayne Dyer, "One of the most spiritual things you can do in your life is spend time in nature. A setting that showcases nature's beauty is pure God in action: unspoiled, untended, alive in stillness and teeming with life. When you're there, you'll begin to see the miraculousness of every cubic inch of space. You'll feel the presence of an energy that you may have lost touch with in your daily life, and that energy is in you." For lots of tips and information: www.weightlosstips4today.blogspot.com Managing and reducing stress involves a holistic approach, looking at all aspects of our lives and how they are connected to our overall sense of health and well-being. This includes spirituality. Developing your spiritualty will help you to benefit in many ways, stress reduction is just one of them. How You Can Get Down To Your Goal Weight by Jeffrey S Long

TIP! For some people, hypnosis has proven itself to be a useful way to lose weight. You may be skeptical, but hypnotism can make lifestyle changes a whole lot easier for some people.
People think it is difficult to get smaller and shed pounds, but this is the truth only if you are not sure on how you are going to go about it. As with anything else in life, you need to know what you are doing to get the best results when trying to lose weight. This article contains a number of tips on weight loss that will help you on your way.
TIP! Try to decrease the amount of caffeine you take in. Studies show that the speed at which you burn fat can be affected negatively by consuming caffeine.
For lots of information and tips, follow blog on www.weightlosstips4today.com
If you want to lose weight, you must try to consider not going to the gym. This is especially true for people who do not like to exercise. Walk your dog, ride your bike or throw the football around to increase your enjoyment while engaging in activities. This could be very rewarding, and it will not seem as if you are working out.
TIP! Eat your largest meal of the day for lunch rather than dinner. If you normally eat a sandwich for lunch, change it up and eat it for supper, instead.
When dieting and attempting to lose weight, you don't have to sacrifice taste. In previous times, low fat or low calorie foods were bland and lacking taste entirely. Today, modern sweeteners and preservatives allow you to enjoy diet food that tastes just like its high-fat, carbo-loaded conventional equivalent. This can help you in your weight loss program while maintaining a high level of satisfaction.

For tips and information follow: www.weightlosstips4today.com
TIP! A good thing that you can use to shed weight is to keep yourself around active people. When we surround ourselves with people who are more active, we are more likely to be active.
It's a common perception that drinking large amounts of water will promote weight loss. Drinking cold water will help your metabolism to work much harder. The coldness of the water makes your body temperature go up, increasing your metabolism.
Egg Whites
TIP! A great food option to aid your weight loss goal is yogurt. If you are trying to incorporate yogurt into your regimen, make sure that it is low-fat.
A good way to help you lose weight is to eat egg whites and discard the yolk. Although the yolk has some healthy nutrients it does contain lots of cholesterol and fat which is not something you want in a healthy diet. Egg whites are a great source of good protein.
TIP! Watch your beverages when you're trying to shed extra pounds. Almost everything you drink except for water does have calories.
Enlist the support of a buddy when heading to the gym for your exercise regimen. Someone with parallel ambitions and preference for similar workouts and diet is a good friend to have. When either of you becomes overwhelmed or exhausted by your exercise program, you can wind one another support and motivate one another to continue.
TIP! Mayo can easily be substituted for mustard. Mayo might be tasty, but even a teaspoon can be high in calories and fat.
A great way to help you lose weight is to suck on some ice when you're feeling the urge to snack or eat junk food. Eating ice is often quite useful when it comes to curbing your appetite, as it keeps the mouth busy.
TIP! Consider eating a piece of angel food cake the next time you crave a dessert. You can't usually just ignore a craving for sweets.
Ask one of your friends to be your exercise buddy. This will make your exercising feel like socializing and less like work. Having a friend with you will give you someone to encourage you and help you achieve your goals. This technique is a great way to get the most out of your workout regimen.
Fad Diets
TIP! Make sure your diet consists of lots of healthy foods. It is a mistake to rely on low-fat, low-calorie processed foods that offer little to no nutritional value.
To keep your diet healthy, avoid fad diets. Extreme diets can lead to malnutrition. Fad diets come and go often simply because they don't work and may even be dangerous. Since the diet is only a temporary solution, once you end the diet any weight you have lost will usually return.
TIP! If you eat pizza often, there's an easy way to get rid of a lot of the overall calories. Before eating a slice of pizza, use a napkin to absorb a portion of the grease.
Instead of aiming for a number during your diet, set a clothing size goal. Don't worry about your scales at all. Weight is different for everyone. Everyone's weight that they want to be is different, it can be absurd to go for a certain weight. Focus on the clothing you want to get into instead.
TIP! When you're trying to eat healthier, try simply eating less food. Chemistry and ingredients in food aren't as important as portion sizes and calories.
You are more likely to eat less if you eat off a smaller plate. Research shows that people tend to eat the food that is placed in front of them, no matter the portion size. If you place less food on smaller plates, you won't feel that you are deprived of it.
TIP! Some diets are effective for some people, but not for others. By eating a diet that is low carb, many people experience results within seven days.
Having a friend who also wants to lose weight is a great motivator. If you are following a diet and fitness regimen with a member of your family or a friend, it will help you to stick with the plan. Not only will you be a source of motivation for each other, but you will also have entertainment and someone to celebrate with.

Type 2 Diabetes - Exposing Popular Weight Loss And Diet Myths! By Beverleigh H Piepers

For every fact available related to dieting and weight loss, there seems to be a myth that also exists. If you have Type 2 diabetes, your health is already a challenge - if you believe the myths, it will only be harder. So here are a few myths you don't need to believe...
Myth: Skipping meals will help you lose weight.
Fact: If you skip meals, you can actually gain weight. This is because your metabolism slows down and makes you feel hungrier than normal. When you next eat, you'll most likely eat more than you should and so the calorie count increases substantially.
For lots of tips and information, www.weightlosstips4today.blogspot.com
Breakfast is the worst meal to skip because it jump-starts your metabolism. If you eat a healthy breakfast, you'll be less likely to overeat during the day. Your nervous system and brain need sugar for energy so it can function properly. If you don't eat your meals, your body has to use stored carbs to fuel it.
Myth: Drinking a lot of water will help you lose weight quickly and easily.
Fact: You do need to drink plenty of water to remain hydrated. 60% of your body is comprized of water and up to 75% of your muscles are water...
  • water can help you lose weight if you drink it instead of juices, soft drinks and alcohol. These drinks contain sugar in high amounts which are unhealthy.
  • water suppresses your appetite, helps your kidneys function efficiently and helps prevent constipation.
For lots of tips and information, www.weightlosstips4today.blogspot.com
It also improves...
  • the tone of your muscles,
  • aids digestion,
  • helps if you feel depressed,
  • fights chronic fatigue and
  • defends against allergies.
Myth: Eliminate dairy products from your diet.
Fact: You need dairy in your diet. However, choose low-fat and non-fat options. Women especially need the calcium found in dairy products. Studies have shown if you take in sufficient calcium via food, you can lose weight.
Myth: Your willpower is the most valuable element in your weight loss journey.
Fact: You DO need strong willpower but you also need discipline and control. There are also many other factors that can influence your success including your...
  • overall health,
  • environment,
  • family situation and
  • whether you get the support from those around you.
Your lifestyle choices affect how successful you will be, as does the strength of outside influences. Your willpower isn't enough to ensure your success.
Myth: Because starches are fattening, you should limit your intake.
Fact: Many foods with high amounts of starch have low levels of calories and fat. Unfortunately, people tend to add high-fat foods - such as butter, mayonnaise or sour cream, which increases the starch levels. Foods high in starch are complex carbs so they take longer to digest and keep you full for longer. They give your body energy as well.
Never believe myths without checking them out for yourself. Regardless of if you have Type 2 diabetes, another serious disease or illness, or are perfectly healthy, you must watch what you eat or your health can be affected.
