Starting a weight loss program and quitting it after a couple of days is a common phenomenon. If you have also gone through such an experience, you are not alone! This happens to a lot of people. They set weight loss goals, put in their efforts at an initial level, and then get bored easily. However, keeping your spirit high is essential in order to stay fit. Therefore, you should know how to motivate yourself to lose weight.
The following tips will guide you through the process of your weight loss program by staying motivated:
Set Realistic Fitness Goals
The first and foremost step to lose weight is to think about it as a goal you wish to achieve. Start off with short-term goals. When you feel you are good at achieving them, it is time to focus on long-term goals. However, keep in mind that losing weight and sticking to a routine can be frustrating. Therefore, health professionals suggest that taking a five-minute walk daily can help you to stay motivated.
Start Enjoying
Nothing works best for you unless you enjoy it. Likewise, going for different weight loss activities as a part of weight loss exercise program can be fun too. Choose outdoor activities you love participating in. Some examples are walking, playing basketball and volleyball, and joining a martial arts center. Always remember that exercise does not mean hard work. So, a healthier way to make your weight loss exercise program a success is to do it with fun.
Write It Down
There comes a time when you tend to focus less on your fitness goals. Eventually, you might feel less motivated to lose weight. An ideal solution to this problem is to write everything down. Keeping an exercise diary with you can help a lot.
If it is about boosting your energy and sleeping better, write down their benefits. The next time you exercise, also write down how good you felt about it. This will motivate you to continue your fitness efforts.
Ask Your Friends to Join You
Walking alone can make you feel lonely. Having a partner beside you lets you stay motivated throughout your walk. So, ask your friends if they are interested in joining you. Other than that, you can also invite them to take health and fitness classes with you.
Reward Yourself
Making a commitment to exercise is possible if you also reward yourself. Of course, rewarding yourself does not mean giving yourself a treat from a fast food restaurant! You can reward yourself by buying high-quality walking shoes to help you stay motivated.

Top 7 Ways to Lose Weight Before Halloween By Stacy Cooper

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Stacy_Cooper
Everyone knows that Halloween and the weeks leading up to it is just the beginning of the extended "holiday" period where most of us put on our extra weight. As soon as someone cracks open that first bag of "candy corn", you know that you are in trouble and your diet will soon be falling apart. So, here are a few tips that will help you to lose weight ahead of the holidays and to keep on track when everyone else is pigging out.

1. If you work in an office where there is always a bowl of candy, a tray of cookies, or people are always handing out treats, then make sure that you always have something else in your mouth, such as gum, a piece of sugarless candy, or even a toothpick. This will help you from mindlessly picking up food while you are walking around, which can lead to more calories than you might think.
2. In your home, you need to make it a "no sweets zone", not only for yourself but for everyone else, at least up until the actual day of Halloween. This means that as soon as the local grocery stores start putting out their Halloween displays, you need to refrain from buying into their eagerness to celebrate. Go ahead and dress up your home and plan your costume, but there will be no Halloween candy for you (or anyone else!) until the big day.
3. Consider Halloween to be your reward for all the hard work that you are going to do leading up to the day. This is especially beneficial if you can plan a short-term weight loss diet that lasts just a couple of weeks. There are many diets that you can choose that will help you to lose weight that quickly and then you can "splurge" on the 31st which will be more of a treat than a trick for you.
4. When it comes time to a Halloween party, try to make sure you go to one where you will get in at least a little dancing (a great calorie burner!) and less food. Also, try to resist the alcohol if you can, since that is one of the lowest quality forms of nutrition and one that is not only bad for your body, but will pack on the pounds in no time.
5. Remember that Halloween is really for the kids. If you think of this as a child's holiday and not something that you should be partaking in, at least when it comes to candy, then you will be more likely to hold it together when they start bringing home treats from school or parties they attend.
6. Advise your entire family that you are under no circumstances to be offered any sort of candy or sweet. They might think that you are being a spoiled sport, when in reality you are asking for their support in your diet. In return, you can tell them when you start to lose weight and hopefully they will be encouraging in your quest.
7. Finally, keep in mind the age-old mantra that for every extra 100 calories you eat a day, you will gain one entire pound a year. So, if you are pigging out on 100 or more calories between the weeks leading up to Halloween and the end of the year, you should expect to see the New Year in weighing more than you imagine. So, keep your calorie count low for as long as you can.
It is hard for anyone to resist the candy once it is put in front of you, but by following these tips to make it through Halloween, you just might make it through the holidays without putting on any weight.

Healthy Over Fifty! By Lisa B Barker

Being healthy has been a concern for most of my adult life. Staying positive, eating right and exercising have become a lifestyle for me. However, as I am approaching fifty I am working harder on all three of these areas. This is no surprise, for as we age our bodies go through changes especially at fifty and above. These changes do not have to be negative. We can make the right choices now to combat these negative feelings as we get older. Just go with the flow and listen to your body. I have heard all of my life "after fifty, it is all down hill". Do not believe that statement, I want a different lifestyle, one with health, happiness and in the process help others along the way. I want to prove to not only myself but for every person pushing fifty or over, that we can look and feel our best. The pros far outweigh the cons of getting older.
There are three areas I work on most everyday to keep myself happy and healthy. The first is staying positive, the second is exercising and the third is keeping my weight down by eating right.
No matter the situation, there is always something is life that we can be happy about.
Being around positive people is very important for our health, but sometimes we either work with or married to the negative person. Live your life in a way that others want to emulate, even co-workers or spouses. A lot depends on our attitude.. No matter what your situation, you are responsible for you and do your best to find something to be happy about. I truly believe what the Bible says in Proverbs 18:21~Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
The second is to exercise. I work-out five times a week on a Nordic Trak Walkfit, this gives a great workout and three of those days I do strength training. As we age, we lose muscle mass, so doing some from of weight training is vital to your health. However, it really does not matter what form of exercise you do as long as you get your body moving. Just walking for thirty minutes a day will improve your health. Do not say "you have no time" this is something you need to do for yourself, make the time. If that means getting up earlier, then do it. You will feel better, look better and you will be nicer to your family and that is always a good thing. It may also cause you to be with your family for a longer time.
The third is to eat correctly. I am not a fanatic or some guru saying you need to exercise everyday and eat all organic fruits and vegetables. While exercising is important as I have already stated, eating right is just as important but we have to be realistic. Not everyone is exposed to fresh fruits and vegetables year around, and others can not find organic foods in their area. Although they are becoming more prevalent, even in rural areas. Sometimes the expense is just not worth it for growing families, because eating healthy can be more expensive. I have learned, a product may be great and works well, if it does not taste good I am not going to take it. Even thought I am at the weight I want to be, I still need some type of help in maintaining my weight as I approach fifty and I am doing my best to find products that do just that.
As we age we tend to live a more sedentary lifestyle and with just adding an extra five pounds a year, in five years that is an extra twenty-five pounds. This can be more if we are not active. Being over weight can cause high blood pressure, diabetes and even strokes. Be wise in what you eat and how you take care of yourself. The key to all three of these is balance, God has given each of us an amazing machine, our bodies. It is up to us to see to it that we keep our machines working in proper order.

Food to Consume To Lower Cholesterol. by Withun

Food to Consume To Lower Cholesterol.   by Withun
http://www.LoseFastBellyFat.com
There is a saying that goes. "We are what we eat." This is so true as the food being consumed may affect the cholesterol levels inside the person's system. This makes this makes the person prone to high blood pressure or heart disease through age, which could leave the patient, paralyzed or dead.
The only thing to do before it is too late is to make some changes in the individual's diet. While many of the good stuff that people love to eat have high concentrations of LDL better known as bad cholesterol, this can all change by consuming those that have HDL or good cholesterol. Here are a few examples.
A good way to start a healthy diet is to have a breakfast. Instead of eating bread, the individual can consume oatmeal instead. Studies have shown this can lower the cholesterol in the body by more than 20% after just two weeks of use. This figure can go down some more if this becomes a habit before going to work.
It is tough to just have oatmeal in the morning. Sometimes, the individual can have a fruit. An example could be an apple.
Studies have shown that people who eat at least 2 full apples a day or drink 12 ounces of apple juice are able to reduce the chances of heart diseases by 50%. This can be purchased at the supermarket and eaten during anytime of the day such as dessert after a light meal or as a snack.

During lunch or dinner, the person must have some vegetables in the meal. Those who order can have fish or poultry instead of eating red meat. Such dishes are not high in saturated fats, which are healthier.
Those who love to cook at home can try mixing some healthy things ingredients in the meal. One example is garlic that has natural properties that can declog the arteries and again lower the odds of succumbing to heart disease.
Having a can of pork and beans is also good for the diet. This is because it contains soluble fibers that can combat the bad cholesterol in the person's body. There are not that many people who will do this but those who are able to eat even a half an onion daily will be able to increase the HDL and lower the LDL.
People are often told that fats are not good for the diet. This isn't entirely true because this comes in many forms. There are fats that are healthy such as unsaturated ones and omega 3 fatty acids.
Monosaturated and Polysaturated ones are also effective since these are usually found in cooking oils. This means food preparation also plays a big factor in reducing lowering one's cholesterol levels.
The individual should read the label at the supermarket and read the ingredients to find out if this is healthy for cooking.
Beling a bit overweight or noticing a lot of bulges in the body is one way of knowing that the person is potentially at risk for succumbing to disease to high levels of cholesterol in the system.
If the individual is unable to make a proper dietary plan, a specialist can help make one so all the person has to do is follow it.

Stress either physical, mental or emotional is ubiquitous in our lives. In fact, its impossible to avoid it. Stress is the natural response of the body to extreme situations that demand some action.
Good stress can improve the immune system. However, bad stress weakens the body's immune system and can cause intestinal disorders. It can also have a huge impact on our metabolism and weight. Fear, anxiety, anger and depression are some of the stressors that can be detrimental to health.
The Effects Of Stress To Our Weight
Stress stimulates the production of adrenaline, norepinephrine and cortisol. These hormones are produced by the adrenal glands as a response to tension. Increased heart rate, blood pressure and metabolism are the effects on the body.
When the hormones are released in the bloodstream, they stimulate conversion of a stored form of energy glycogen into glucose and increase production of free fatty acids. These occur within the liver and used as a source of energy in the body. The body is designed to produce these hormones to aid in response to stress.
During emergency situations, this response known as "fight or flight" is beneficial for the body to cope with short-term situations. Conversely, chronic stress is harmful to health as the body will continue to release these hormones which stimulates more production of glucose in the body.
The demand for insulin increases in order to metabolize the glucose to energy. When the body produces more insulin it will signal your body to feel hungry and you will crave more food. It has been observed that stress increases your weight because of this involuntary response in your body when it occurs.
Managing Stress
Though it is inevitable, finding ways to alleviate the pressure in life is vital to stay fit and healthy. It is common during these situations we seek food as our outlet to relieve our tension and yet it can add to your weight issues.
Physical activity, relaxation techniques, meditation and other diversion methods are good alternatives for coping. Exercise is the best outlet to combat stress because it will improve insulin sensitivity thus, increases your metabolism.
Take a break from work and have vacation with your family. Revitalize yourself from your busy bustling environment. Go to beach and enjoy a moment in peaceful and calm surroundings free from stressors.
Undeniably, these negative pressure can positively influence your weight, emotions and total being. High blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and obesity are also results of stress. So the next time you feel you are under pressure, take a break, inhale deeply, relax and pause for a moment. Don't risk your health because of stress.

What To Eat Instead of Bread And Cereal by Fintan Corrigan

Replace Bread, Cereal, Wheat and Flour Products with Wholegrain Brown Rice
For many people what to eat instead of bread and cereal is a big question. It is tough to stop eating these foods without a substitute. Wholegrain Brown Rice is the easiest way to replace bread and cereal in your diet. Wholegrain Brown Rice has outstanding nutritional and fiber benefits.
Wholegrain Brown Rice Has Exceptional Nutritional Qualities
Brown rice is an excellent source of manganese (energy production plus antioxidant protection), a good source of the minerals selenium (a trace mineral that has been shown to substantially reduce the risk of colon cancer) and magnesium. Brown rice contains vitamins B1, B3, B6 and minerals such as manganese, phosphorus and iron. Brown rice is exceptional source for all your dietary fiber and essential fatty acids. And the oil in whole brown rice lowers cholesterol.
How To Incorporate Wholegrain Brown Rice Into Your Diet
Wholegrain Brown Rice takes approximately 40 to 45 minutes to cook. So you really don't want to be getting up an hour earlier than normal to cook rice for breakfast. Buy a very good rice cooker and make enough brown rice for 2 days. Each morning you heat up your brown rice. It's hard to cook great meals without great kitchen appliances.
Non-Traditional Breakfasts
Forget about cereal, pancakes, bread etc for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Eat breakfast like a dinner. Same with lunch time and evening meals.Start the day with a decent sized healthy breakfast. Try the following for breakfast. Brown rice, salad (rocket, spinach, mixed leaves) with eggs (Scrambled, Boiled or Omelet). On other days instead of eggs, cook some fish (sea-bass, trout or salmon etc) or meat with brown rice and salad for breakfast.
Most Supermarkets have fish and meat prepared with herbs in a foil tray which take only 15 to 20 minutes in the oven. When you start incorporating wholegrain brown rice into your diet you are leaving behind bread and cereals which leave you bloated, overweight and sluggish.
The Problem With Wheat and Your Weight
The biggest problem with bread, cereals and wheat based products is the effect on your blood sugar levels. Cravings or succumbing to overeating is a blood sugar imbalance. Blood sugar imbalance cannot be fixed by any of the wheat based products today because of the food processing of wheat and flour.
The solution is to remove all or as much wheat based flour products from your diet. You will experience many many benefits.
In the book called Lose Wheat / Lose Weight by Antoinette Savill & Dawn Hamilton, they have a Self-test Wheat-Intolerance Questionnaire. The questionnaire is on our website at http://cananyonegetasixpack.tkash.com/?p=390. Read and see if you have any of the following. The vast majority of people have food intolerance towards flour and wheat.
Click here for Self-test Wheat-Intolerance Questionnaire
Wheat Intolerance And Allergies
Many people have allergy and intolerance's to wheat and flour. The main reason is the wheat which we eat nowadays bears little resemblance to the grains of our grandparents times. Modern wheat undergoes a bewildering array of processes before it is used in the products of today such as breads, cereals, sweets, biscuits, bagels.
The wheat germ which is the healthy part of wheat is removed because it goes rancid very quickly and would spoil the flour. Bran which is the fibre part of the grain is also removed during most milling processes as the majority of the wheat products we consume are made with white flour.
Food processing oxidizing agents such as potassium bromate are added to flour to age the wheat within 48 hours. After oxidizing agents, the naturally occurring yellow pigmentation of flour is bleached with chemicals such as benzoyl peroxide to turn it white to be more appealing to the consumer. The bleaching agent needs to be neutralized by the addition of yet another chemical such as calcium carbonate. Finally preservatives and conditioners are added to the flour to help improve the texture.
In the book called Wheat Belly by Dr William Davis (link to book on my website), he discusses the side effects and illness caused by excessive wheat consumption: As followsAcne Heart disease Accelerated aging Visceral fat in the abdomen Type 2 diabetes Acidifies the body, leading to weak bones Joint problems, including arthritis Addictive properties High blood sugar
Make the change today. Cut bread, cereals and as much wheat out of your diet as possible. You will lose a lot of weight and feel like a new person. For more nutritional knowledge, exercise information, motivation and inspiration please visit my website and sign up to our free email list.
